Travellers now exclusively use the Coquihalla Highway, skipping the closure. The fire near Hope is burning northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, releasing thick smoke. Smoke is heavy and clearly to see, lowering visibility. A second blaze erupted south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire spans 300 hectares. It prompted officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now blocked.
