The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Golden State Valkyries twice in late August. Minnesota earned a win of 77-66 on Aug. 19. The teams clashed again Aug. 24 at Target Center. Minnesota maintained the top seed. They remained unbeaten against Golden State yet. Courtney Williams sat out. Her right foot was injured. Without Williams on the floor, Minnesota could not secure the top seed in that game.
