Tadej Pogačar secured the win on Stage 19 on July 24. The Slovenian rider struck hard on Alpe d'Huez and rode clear of the rest. Only Richard Carapaz came within reach. Pogačar's group faced unwell team riders earlier in the stage but he remained fit. His lead bounced upward on the last climbs. Two days prior, Carapaz grabbed Stage 18 just close behind.
