More than half of members in the Australian Education Union’s Victoria branch voted against the state’s recent wage proposal, prompting state school teachers to begin a strike.

The AEU declared a labor pullout following the tally that indicated 51 percent opposed the revised proposal.

The strike has been confirmed and planned to go ahead with no new negotiations scheduled for now.
